People working in this area enjoy an enormous variety of employment opportunities. Courses in general operations enable students to learn specialist skills and knowledge in silver service, advanced food and wine knowledge, and sales and marketing and set the foundation for working in a hotel, restaurant, cafe, banqueting or catering environment. More advanced studies enable students to develop the competencies required for employment in front of house services, food and beverage areas and housekeeping, with advanced career opportunities in the management of function areas.

Award Courses - SATAC application process
- Applications for 2008 - Semester One must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.
- Applications for Places Available courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

Developing and updating food, beverage and wine knowledge; provision of gaming services; sales, marketing and promotion; silver service; and electives. -
Diploma of Hospitality Management
Leading and managing people; managing finances within a budget; managing workplace relations; planning and establishing systems and procedures; preparing and monitoring budgets; and rostering staff. -
Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
Developing and implementing marketing and business plans; developing and maintaining legal knowledge required for business compliance; managing financial operations; managing physical assets; preparing and monitoring budgets; accommodation services; managing human resources; and managing food and beverage operations.
Minimum Entry Requirements

Qualification/Certification
Successful completion of this course provides you with Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations), Diploma of Hospitality Management. Students who elect to only do a certain number of modules within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $1980 in 2008. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
