Expected Employment Outcome Example
Retailing is one of the largest employment sectors in Australia, with many sales opportunities for graduates. Retail in the new millennium is a career rather than just a job due to a wide variety of roles evolving within the industry. These roles can include merchandising, selling, marketing, advertising, buying and administration. Retail courses prepare students for a career in a diverse range of businesses including footwear; textiles; fashion; jewellery; floristry; groceries; toys; sporting goods; home ware; hardware; liquor outlets (restricted to those aged 18 years and over); electrical; and manchester.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Award Courses - SATAC application process
- Applications for 2008 - Semester One must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.
- Applications for Places Available courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

Certificate III in Retail Operations
Retail Operations includes advanced selling; profiling a retail market; maintaining and ordering stock; and visual display. -
Certificate III in Retail Supervision
Retail Supervision includes coordinating interaction with customers; coordinating merchandise presentation; co-ordinating sales performance; coordinating workteams; maintaining workplace relationships; store security and store safety; training small groups; and co-ordinating workteams. -
Certificate IV in Retail Management
Buying merchandise; coordinating a retail office; finance; human resources; inventory and loss control; managing merchandise and store presentation; managing people; preparing the payroll; recruitment; sales and service delivery; store facilities; store security; the working environment; training staff; workplace assessment; and OH&S. -
Diploma of Retail Management
Change management; communications and strategic planning.

Qualification/Certification
Successful completion of this course provides you with Certificate III in Retail Operations, Certificate III in Retail Supervision, Certificate IV in Retail Management. Students who elect to only do a certain number of modules within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $1980 in 2008. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
